This image was the last of a day spent exploring the Blue Ridge Trail and fall foliage. The sun is low over the Shenandoah Valley, exposing the rolling contours of the ancient river valley and rendering a painterly quality to the colors of the farm and forest. The scene recedes in the mists of the winding river.
