The Antelope Ruins are Anasazi structures built on the canyon floor in Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Ansel Adams made this site famous with a black and white photo when the stream was high and prior to the introduction of Russian Olive and Tamarisk trees which have fostered unwanted vegetation in the canyons. The dark streaks running down from the canyon rim are known as Desert Varnish.
